Success in Temple Bar! (5.7.99)

The Audio/video is below - ok?! Where were you while Snackbox were getting high? Well if your name was Naiose, Dermo or Dreggsy boy - you were right there! (Along with 40 Italian schoolkids - every gig should have them) as Snackbox 'the ultimate leisure package' played compositions new and old to an crowd bursting with youthful energy. Those kids...

The 'attractive' band played a blinder. Starting off with 'Balls' (the next single?) and powering through classics such as 'Sex Tonic' and 'Leave the House'. The band just didn't let up - Running through nine songs in about thirty minutes. Talk about your moneys worth!

The full set list was:
Balls
Leave the House
Insolence
Sex Tonic
Celtic Tiger
AcDc
Brute Force
Wonderful
Hell Bent For Leather

What did the lads think of it all? "Good gear boss" said guitarist Chuck Brewski, "it's always good to give something back to the kids. These club dates are a real throwback to the 70's." Stix man The Franchise agreed "they put me drums through the P.A., you can't argue with that!" Singer Big Mr. Liam echoed the sentiment, "old skool, just the way we like it. It was good to break out the mexican wrestling masks, but the youngsters thought we were 'power rangers'! Whatever the f@*k they are...whatever happened to Skeletor? Now that was good!" Backing vocalist Brother Bollywood and Bassist Bert Control were unavailable for comment and were last seen getting 'Rillo' in a nearby pub with several scantily clad groupies....etc. etc. etc.

Thanks for coming/watching. It's appreciated.
x,
Snackbox

Snackbox have just announced that they will be playing the Temple Bar Music Centre this coming Sunday (2.7.99). They will be going onstage around 12:30pm! That's the afternoon folks.

What better way to spend early Sunday afternoon than drinking lunchtime pints and listening to Snackbox's first gig of the summer? We can't think of one neither.

New songs will be showcased from the forthcoming release - "Builders Holidays" The band will also debut their new corporate image.

The band are expected on stage at 12:45. Admission may be one whole pound (!?) - that's all.

New songs will be showcased from the forthcoming release - "Builders Holidays"

Band illness halts recording (19.6.99)

Snackbox have had to postpone recording of their first album when their drummer recently came down with a bad viral infection. It seems that 'the Franchise' hadn't been taking his vitamins C or V and therefore exposed his inner child to the elements.

"It was touch and go there for a little while" said the rock veteran, "it looked like the lads might finally f@*k me out and get a drum machine. But I think I'm still in. I don't know what happened, one minute I was grand - the next I was off my box."

He is currently in the recovery position in Holles St. hospital off Merrion Sq., Dublin. Being fed on a diet of Liga and Starbars only, the progress has been good. "He's almost back to the level of Hanson's drummer" said bassist Bert Control, "he can drum for about two minutes a day. Which is about the usual, before he blows up and runs out of puff."

In other news, Snackbox members Chuck Brewski (guitars) and Big Mr. Liam (vocals) along with S-TV cameraman Zeus attended the Gods of Metal festival in Milan last week. Metallica, Manowar and Motorhead, amongst others, strutted their stuff before 20,000. But it was Mercyful Fate who stole our hearts with a combination sound of Judas Priest and Metallica - enhanced no end by the awesome theatrics of vocalist King Diamond.

Keep them Q's coming in! [email protected]

Wonderful CD released! (4.6.99)

Great news, Snackbox have finally released their debut CD. Comprising of the tracks "Wonderful","Sex Tonic" and "Brute Force & Ignorance" it's available to all of you now for the pricey sum of 2 (or equivalent in your currency + 10%, if you can get your head around that). For a price like that you'd be a clown to turn it down?

Alternatively, if you're a cheapskate who doesn't like glossy covers and labels, you can pander to your nerdy side by downloading the tracks for free. That's right, Snackbox have bootleged their own merchandise! (before someone else did it).

So there you go. Buy or don't buy. Listen or don't listen. Look but don't touch...etc. etc. You can order the CD from next week. Email us here for details. Or you can download it (probably a better idea!) from mp3.com, check out the link above, to the right..yeah that's it. Now get the hell out of here.

Snackbox outsell Hallmark! (17.5.99)

That's right, Snackbox have unleashed their very own range of greeting cards! Now you can send your computer nerd friends a 'virtual card' (whatever the fuck that is). It's free, unless you wish to send us some virtual money; the rate of 1.2 galaxians per card should cover it.

"Well, if Kevin Moran can do it why can't we?" asked singer big mister liam, "and we all know he's a dumbass!" Drummer 'the Franchise' concured, "he could be turned easily, especially after a high ball." And what about the cards? "They're alright...I suppose" answered the corporate icon of Irish rock.

"It's a continuation of market expansion in key areas" said guitarist Dr. Chuck Brewski, "floatation has proven successful, and now I have enough money to buy steroids."

In other Snackbox news...this is 'hush-hush' ok? It seems that the boys are secretly working on their first release, and are near to securing a production deal...more soon...

Snackbox Radio goes online! (30.4.99)

That's right, the ULTIMATE leisure package have harnessed all the power of the internet to bring you...Snackbox Radio! You can forget your Steve Miller Band, Eagles or Blondie. There'll be no tired out old shite played on our station...oh no, just vibrant, eclectic, new, fresh Irish music...like Snackbox! A dream come true?

Using techniques that no other clowns could embrace, Snackbox offer you a chance of previewing their MP3 tracks. Typical Joe Schmoe : "That'd be Sex Tonic & Wonderful, wouldn't it boss?" Your damn right chieftan, only the best for the chickenhawks!

"So what do I need to get 'juiced up'"? you cry. Simple, be a good little burger (GLB) and haul your ass over to the boys and girls at Realplayer. When you get there, trawl through the garbage and/or search for a free player. Couldn't be simpler!

"I love it" said Paul Wright, who was lucky to get a preview of this premium service. "There may only be two songs...but that's the best thing", he continued in a trance like state "I don't want to be confused by variety, give me what I actually like...over and over again. Keep it simple."

"Great stuff" said Dreggsy Boy, "I wouldn't hesitate to hook it up to the P.A. system here in work...in fact, why the hell don't I?! Come on lads, fight the leaders...it's time to rock the system!".

"We'll never let the kids down" said Snackbox in a press release. Currently locked down in rehersals before embarking on some monster recording sessions the boys seem boosted by their new concept: "Triumphant is how we feel!" said bass player Rob Leslie, as usual decked out in his Tri-colour pants, "it's the new dawn". Other members seemed more laid back about the whole thing, "Yeah it's alright" said drummer Feno, perhaps more accurately reflecting the publics view?

You can find it in the column to the left...fantastic!

Snackbox MP3's NOW availible (22.4.99)

That's right, Snackbox - the ULTIMATE leisure package now offer you CD quality recordings for download in the Mp3 format. In conjunction with Mp3.com, Snackbox have flown in the face of common industry ideals by fully embracing this new and exciting cyber environment.

"Mp3.com came crying to us, begging for some decent output" said bass boy Bobby Leslie, "they wanted to boost the amount of hits they receive, and what better way to get a boost than Snackbox?" Drummer Micheal Fennessy agrees, "It's really cool to be able to offer the online consumers a chance to preview forthcoming product. It'll help us retain our core market, while helping us expand further into other stuff, like."

"Where's Junipers Mp3's?" asked singer Panty 2000. Good question. "I'm really excited about this, we're hoping to make new fans through giving away these tracks. And then when they're hooked, we'll fleece them for every penny they've got....like any good dealer would."

"The songs available are 'Sex Tonic' and 'Wonderful' " said guitarist Niall Boyle, "they're both pretty kickin' and you can expect to see them on our debut E.P." When is the most anticipated debut in Irish rock history coming out? "Sometime this summer" said Niall, "That's the plan for now anyway. An E.P. followed by the L.P. Makes sense, dunnit?"

Click here for the Mp3's, or click the logo on the left.

Snackbox Online would like to offer their condolences to Juniper, who were dropped by their record label last week, and have now split up. We will never forget you.

Who were we just talking about? I've forgotten already....BOOM! BOOM!
